First Quarter Results 2009

Our net sales decreased to €262.1 million (8.2%) in the first quarter of 2009, because of challenging market conditions and unfavourable currency exchange rates. Adjusted for changes in our company structure our net sales decreased by 9.5%. Our operating profit exclduing non-recurring items decreased by 37.1% to to €15.5 million. Sanoma Magazines has reacted to its challenging business environment by initiating several cost saving programmes and by closing twenty loss-making titles that had no short-term turn-around potential.
