Sanoma Magazines is represented in Belgium by Sanoma Magazines Belgium (SMB).
The company is both active in Flanders as well as Wallonia. In both parts of Belgium SMB has built a market leading position with local brands and international licenses. The company is particularly strong in women’s weeklies (Flair, Libelle, Femmes d’Aujourd’Hui), RTV/news magazines (TeVe-Blad, HUMO , TéléMoustique) and glossies (Feeling, Gael, Marie Claire). In addition, SMB imports several magazines for the Flemish market from Dutch sister company Sanoma Uitgevers.
SMB is also active in niche publishing through EPN International. SMB owns a majority shareholding in TV-production company Jok Foe, and is active in custom publishing through sQills. In digital media the company is building a portfolio based on magazine websites as well as online-only services like Kieskeurig.be and Fitfixers.be.
Sanoma Magazines is represented in Bulgaria by Net Info and Sanoma Bliasak Bulgaria.
Net Info is Bulgaria’s leading online publisher and part of Sanoma Magazines since 2008. The company develops and supports a wide range of digital media, ranging from search to e-mail and digital content. Net Info owns popular websites like the (sports) news portals Netinfo.bg and Sportni.bg, directory site Gbg.bg, the leading free-mail provider Abv.bg and the most popular video site Vbox7.com.
Sanoma Bliasak Bulgaria is Bulgaria’s foremost magazine publisher, developing a strong portfolio of local and international brands. Next to its magazines, Sanoma Bliasak Bulgaria is building a position in thematic verticals online. Primarily connected to its magazines, but also online only. Examples include celebrity portal Bliasak.bg and the leading women’s portal Rozali.com.
Sanoma Magazines is represented in Croatia by Adria Media Zagreb.
Adria Media Zagreb is a joint venture between Sanoma Magazines International and German publisher Gruner+Jahr. Within Sanoma Magazines, Sanoma Magazines International is responsible for all activities in Central, Eastern and South East Europe, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Next to these two joint venture partners, Austrian media company Styria is minority shareholder in Adria Media Zagreb.
Adria Media Zagreb is one of the leading publishing houses in Croatia with a portfolio of more than 15 brands, including international brands like ELLE and local brands like KL!K. The company is strong in developing magazine concepts; both the glossy gossip formula of Story as well as mindstyle and wellness brand Sensa have originated in Croatia. Adria Media Zagreb is also developing an online presence.
Sanoma Magazines is represented in the Czech Republic by Sanoma Magazines Praha. The company is one of the leading magazine publishers in the country, with an increasing presence in digital media.
Sanoma Magazines Praha is strong in women’s titles and in home deco. Main titles include Vlasta, Kvety and Sanoma Magazines’ celebrity brand Story. Online, next to magazine domains, the company manages website builder eStranky.cz, that has also crossed the border to Slovakia and Hungary. Its home deco portal Tvujdum.cz has a local edition in Slovakia, and is reinforced on the domestic market with verticals centred around women and kitchens .
Sanoma Magazines Praha has minority shareholdings in Sanoma Stratosferá and Hearst Stratosferá. Through this, Sanoma Magazines Praha is indirectly active in publishing magazines like Cosmopolitan.
Sanoma Magazines is represented in Finland by Sanoma Magazines Finland (SMF), the leading magazine publisher measured both in net sales as well as in total circulation.
SMF is particularly strong in women's, family and youth magazines. Key titles include Aku Ankka (‘Donald Duck’), parenting brand Vauva and family magazine Kodin Kuvalehti. Glossy title Gloria has grown into a family of magazines: several magazines were spun-off to focus on topics like home deco and food for instance.
Next to consumer magazines, SMF is also strong in custom publishing. Additionally, the company is increasingly active in digital media. Primarily by transferring magazine brands to online, but also through online-only services . The company is an active shareholder in Sanoma Digital, Finland’s leading digital media company, together with sister Divisions Sanoma News and Sanoma Entertainment.
Sanoma Magazines is represented in Hungary by Sanoma Budapest (SB), one of the strongest local media companies. The company publishes consumer and trade magazines, is involved with custom and book publishing, manages a digital media portfolio, organises consumer events, seminars and business conferences, and manages a TV-channel.
SB’s strong magazines include women’s weekly Nök Lapja, celebrity title Story and TV guide Színes RTV. Through a joint venture with the Hearst Corporation, SB publishes the leading women’s glossy Cosmopolitan.
SB is also one of the frontrunners in digital media. SB manages a strong link directory (Startlap.hu) and recruitment site (Profession.hu) for instance. Popular verticals around women (Nlcafe.hu) and cars (Vezess.hu) are also part of the portfolio. Celebrity brand Story has even moved beyond its online portal, and is now available 24/7/365 through Story TV.
Sanoma Magazines is represented in the Netherlands by Sanoma Uitgevers (SU). SU own five subsidiaries: Woonbeurs Amsterdam ('Living Fair Amsterdam'), ilse media (the leading local internet company), Jonge Gezinnen (focused on parenting titles), Mood for Magazines (women’s glossies) and Sanoma Men’s Magazines.
Together with its subsidiaries, SU is the leading magazine publisher and local internet company. The company is also active in custom and book publishing, organises major consumer events that attract tens of thousands of visitors, and is involved in selling consumer products and services branded with its media brands.
SU manages a strong portfolio of media brands that include leading weeklies, home deco and parenting titles, strong glossies, and important (Disney) youth titles. In digital media the company owns a.o. the leading link directory (Startpagina.nl) and the biggest news site (NU.nl).
Sanoma Magazines is represented in Romania by Sanoma Hearst Romania. The company is a joint venture between Sanoma Magazines and the Hearst Corporation in which Sanoma Magazines owns a 65% stake.
Sanoma Hearst Romania is one of the leading media companies in Romania. The company manages a strong portfolio of international (Cosmopolitan, FHM, National Geographic) and local brands (Femeia de azi, Mami, Casa si Gradina). Sanoma Hearst Romania is particularly strong in women’s, home deco and parenting titles as well as glossy magazines.
In digital media Sanoma Hearst Romania is building a strong position by leveraging its magazine websites with thematic verticals around women’s interests (general: Femeia.ro, parenting: Mami.ro, bridal: Miresici.ro), news (Newsreport.ro) and link directories (Startpage.ro).
Sanoma Magazines is represented in Russia by Independent Media Sanoma Magazines.
Independent Media is Russia’s number one publisher of glossy, luxury magazines. Cosmopolitan, Russia’s largest glossy, has grown into a real lifestyle brand. Other important magazines are brands like Men’s Health, Harper’s Bazaar, Yes! and Gloria.
Next to magazines, Independent Media publishes Russia’s best read English language newspapers The Moscow Times and The St. Petersburg Times. Financial daily Vedomosti is published in cooperation with The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times.
Independent Media is developing its online presence as well. With leading women’s site Cosmo.ru as a springboard, business news site RB.ru and infotainment sites like Webpark.ru and Ameno.ru are also part of the portfolio.

Adria Media Serbia publishes local brands like Kulinarske Tajne and Moj Stan, as well as international titles (Cosmopolitan, Men’s Health, Story). The company is strong in women’s and parenting titles, and tries to transfer its approach to online as well. A strong example of the latter is parenting portal yumama.com.
Sanoma Magazines is represented in Slovakia by Sanoma Magazines Slovakia.
Sanoma Magazines Slovakia is the market leading publisher of business-to-business magazines in the country. Business-to-business magazines are also called trade magazines, or professional magazines.
Some of Sanoma Magazines Slovakia’s key segments are marketing communications, catering and health. Next to professional magazines dedicated to these subjects, the company organises events and manages business-to-business portals like StratégieOnline.
In 2008 Sanoma Magazines Slovakia launched its first consumer magazine, RUN magazine. RUN magazine is based on a concept developed by sister company Sanoma Magazines Praha from the Czech Republic. The magazine’s content and target audience are related to the health and wellness magazines that Sanoma Magazines Slovakia already publishes.

Over the years, the company has grown into one of the largest publishing houses in Slovenia. Adria Media Ljubljana is market leader in men’s glossy magazines, gossip magazines and the automotive segment, and is increasingly active online.
Sanoma Magazines is represented in Ukraine by Sanoma Magazines Ukraine.
Sanoma Magazines Ukraine is growing strongly into a market leading publisher in Ukraine by developing a portfolio of (mostly) international magazine brands. The company issues the local editions of Cosmopolitan, Cosmo Beauty, Good Housekeeping and Prevention, all targeted at women. Men are served through sports and fitness magazine Men’s Health. In addition, Sanoma Magazines Ukraine publishes Sanoma Magazines’ own celebrity magazine Story every week.
Next to its magazine portfolio, Sanoma Magazines Ukraine is gradually developing its business towards digital media. The company is transferring magazine brands from strictly offline to online as well. Websites like Cosmo.com.ua, Story.com.ua and Menshealth.com.ua are establishing themselves as important Verticals on the Ukrainian market.
