Tableau sold to Pelican Magazines Hearst

Hoofddorp, August 28, 2008 - Sanoma Uitgevers sells the magazine title Tableau to Pelican Magazines Hearst on October 1, 2008. Pelican Magazines Hearst publishes Carros, Nautique, En France, Golf estate and The Big Black Book. The sale relates to all Tableau’s activities. Tableau is a specialist magazine about fine arts.

CEO Dick Molman: “The sale of Tableau fits our strategy to further enforce our print activities by focusing strongly. On top of this there is not enough synergy with our other titles in amongst others the advertising market. I am convinced that Tableau’s specialist character (niche publishing) is better off at Pelican Magazines Hearst.”

“The objective of the sale was to find a better home for Tableau in order to create extra value for the magazine and the employees involved. Frank Kloppert, Publisher at Pelican Magazines Hearst, has published Tableau himself for a couple of years and he was very interested in this title.”

Pelican Magazines Hearst focuses with high-quality special interest magazines on the high end of the magazine market. Publisher Frank Kloppert: “Tableau is a beautiful enforcement of our portfolio. Within its segment, the magazine has reigned supremely for years already. Tableau focuses on the same group of readers as our other magazines do, thus offering our advertisers an additional quality contact opportunity. We are able to state that Tableau offers synergy with our other titles in all aspects”.

Subscribers to Tableau will be informed about this change. The last issue produced by Sanoma Uitgevers will be published on September 15. The first issue made by Pelican Magazines Hearst will be published on October 31.
