Hoofddorp, 1 July 2010 - Sanoma Uitgevers has decided to stop publishing Mind Magazine. The final issue (No. 7) will be published at the end of August. Mind Magazine doesn't show sufficient profit potential.
Sanoma Uitgevers launched Mind Magazine in May 2007 as a glossy monthly magazine about psychology with stories about self awareness, relationships and societal issues.
COO Print Henk Scheenstra expresses his regret that Mind Magazine has not succeeded in today's competitive market place. He states that everybody involved has worked hard to make Mind Magazine successful and improve the results, but the magazine is structurally staying behind its target and long term improvement is not in sight.
Sanoma Uitgevers is aware of the painfulness of this decision, especially for those directly affected. The magazine market however is pressured, challenging Sanoma Uitgevers to keep up its current sales and market positions. This challenge requires a focused portfolio.
