SMM takes a majority stake in Belegger.nl

Amsterdam, 29 March 2007- Sanoma Men’s Magazines (SMM) takes a majority stake of 68% in Belegger.nl B.V. Through this stake, SMM will extend its portfolio with an up till now under-represented domain: personal finance. Together with the Finnish multinational, Belegger.nl wants to expand to become the biggest investment platform of the Benelux.


Belegger.nl exploits four websites: www.belegger.nl, www.beursduivel.be, www.marketadvices.com and www.voetbalnext.nl. Together they reach more than 300.000 unique visitors a month / 7 million pageviews a month (source: Google analytics, January 2007).


Specific information per internet site:

1. Since 1999, Belegger.nl has grown to become one of the largest financial websites of the Netherlands and characterizes itself as being the support for the beginning as well as the experienced investor.

2. Beursduivel.be is the Belgian sister of Belegger.nl and can call itself the largest independent investment site in Belgium.

3. Marketadvices.com is a specialized website, offering a free overview of buy and sell recommendations from reputable (investment) banks.

4. Voetbalnext.nl is an interactive soccer platform where it is possible to make a virtual investment in soccer clubs. Via this simulation the enthusiasm for investing has grown stronger.

Belegger.nl was founded by Matthijs Kanis, also author of last year’s published ‘Investing for Dummies’. The company consists of twelve persons. Besides Kanis, Geert-Jan Smits, Joost Steins Bisschop and Jan Albers are also partner of the company.
