Bobo transferred to Malmberg

Hoofddorp, 23 July 2008 - From the first of July onwards Bobo, the well-known children’s magazine from Sanoma Uitgevers, is part of Malmberg, a sister company of Sanoma Uitgevers.

The decision to transfer Bobo to Malmberg fits the strategy of Sanoma Uitgevers to focus its print activities more strongly.

Regarding Bobo, Malmberg and Sanoma Uitgevers have been cooperating for decades already. Sanoma Uitgevers was responsible for the production and the newsstand sales; in turn Malmberg took care of the distribution in schools. From 1 July onwards, Malmberg will be solely responsible for Bobo.

Malmberg is a leading publishing company for primary, secondary, professional and adult education. Their magazines challenge children, encourage their fantasy and lets them - at their own level - think about everything that happens around them.

Henk Scheenstra, COO Print Sanoma Uitgevers: “Bobo contributes to the first magazine experience for the youngest target audience. Bobo is a beautiful title and a strong brand with a long history. Bobo will prosper within Malmberg’s educational specialism. After years of cooperating, this is a good parent for Bobo. In turn Sanoma Uitgevers can focus its portfolio more strongly.”

Jorien Castelein, Director/Publisher Youth Publications Malmberg: “Bobo is a wonderful brand that fits the mission of Malmberg Youth Publications well: challenge children in a playful manner to develop themselves and their talents as much as possible and to discover the world. With Bobo, Malmberg owns a character that succeeds in winning the hearts of children year after year. Malmberg can make sure that the brand will fit even better with the development of children in schools. The twentieth issue of Bobo will be the first one that is made by Malmberg. All subscribers will be informed through a letter sent with Bobo 19. They will continue to receive Bobo in the same way as before.”

Malmberg is part of the international media group Sanoma; the largest supplier of media like magazines, books, newspapers, educational material, TV and internet in Northern Europe.

Malmberg develops and delivers motivating products and services through which children and adults can develop themselves as good as possible, and that support teachers to teach as effectively and inspiringly as possible. The perception of the environment, the stages of development and the wishes of children and the educational system are leading in the development of those products.

Malmberg supplies educational materials and magazines for children between 4-18 years of age, but also materials for learning orientation support, talent tests and career development. With these we help the youngest infant with taking the first educational steps and the young professional in making educational, professional and life choices. Malmberg also offers her knowledge to the business and non-profit sector as well as to governmental bodies in the form of advice, training and research.

Malmberg is known for a.o. Okki, TKMST, Studie Beurs, Schoolweb.nl, Biologie voor jou and Pluspunt. More information about Malmberg: www.malmberg.nl.
